Visiting Helpers is a non-traditional home care support service focused on empowering family caregivers. While the business is registered as a home care agency, we do not provide direct in-home caregiving services (unless through family caregivers via Home Help or respite care for the Home Help clients on special occasions). Instead, our scope includes:
-
Family Caregiver Support Services
-
Education & Training: We provide workshops, online guides, and live sessions on topics such as:
- Home safety
- Alzheimer’s and dementia education
- Medication management
- Understanding new or chronic diagnoses
- Navigating Medicaid and financial support
- Support Groups: Moderated peer-to-peer support through online groups with resources, Q&A threads, and guided discussions.
-
Education & Training: We provide workshops, online guides, and live sessions on topics such as:
-
Payment Help Services
Help family caregivers get paid through the Michigan Home Help Program and 3rd party companies.
- We assist eligible families in applying for and managing Medicaid Home Help benefits so they can get paid for caring for loved ones at home.
- We assist eligible families in getting paid through other 3rd party companies like Veterans Aid and Attendance or Medicare Advantage plans.
- We only staff family caregivers, not general caregivers or CNAs.
-
Senior Placement Services
- We guide families through identifying and selecting the most appropriate care setting (Independent Living, Assisted Living, or Memory Care).
- We coordinate tours, compare pricing, and handle placement logistics.
- We are compensated via referral/placement fees from the receiving facility (not the family).
-
Ancillary In-Home Services
These are limited in-home services we offer only as consultative, educational visits, not ongoing care:
- Home Safety/Fall Risk Assessments: One-time visits to identify risks and provide written recommendations.
- Medication and Equipment Education/Setup: Non-clinical guidance to help families understand prescriptions and set up reminders or pill organizers.
- New/Chronic Diagnosis Consults: One-time sessions to explain care implications, next steps, and what to watch for.
